Ministry Site Prayer & Donation List

Dominican Republic (Bateyes)

Thank you for your willingness to donate items to the ministry of SI in DR. In our relationships with the nationals here in The Bateyes, we are intentional about not fostering dependency in our giving and also in treating those we minister to with dignity and respect. To this end, we have a few simple guidelines that we would like to suggest as you consider your donations. First, If your donation is for a specific ministry site:Please deliver it directly to the site leader/s only. Avoid distributing anything in the communities personally. Our site leaders know best how to distribute or use these items please trust their judgment. We will process the donations on the first day of sites and get them distributed as soon as possible. General donations for the SI Base should be brought to the main building. To better aid you in choosing donations, we have a site specific donations list that is updated according to the needs of the sites. If donating used items please be sure that they are gently used (in good to excellent condition). If clothing or household linens, please be sure they are free of rips, tears, or stains, that all zippers work and that buttons are in tack. Please consider the culture you are giving to. For example, items that are in English or that are specific to cold weather climates may be more useful at a local charity in your home town. When packing donations, please pack liquids in a bag that seals well and be certain to wrap breakable items in protective packing material. Again, we are so blessed by your generosity. Our ministry sites continue to run smoothly because of your willingness to partner with us!

      • Appropiate Technology is a site that seeks to provide a vital need for human life, which is clean water. Through this work, our main goal is to connect with the communities and present the plan of salvation in Jesus. This is our mission. We thank God for every participant at our A.T. Bateyes site. As a team, we will focus on building and installing water filters in homes. Each filter is made with cement, so we ask for patience and flexibility throughout the process. We believe that every installation will open doors into homes and give us the opportunity to minister and share Christ. Our main goal is to present the Gospel and serve as many people as God allows us to reach. Methodology: Teaching and learning through the expectations of others. Loving until it hurts.

      • Vasca Preschool was created to lovingly care for and educate young children in the Vasca community. We serve Dominican and Haitian children from 3 to 5 years old, and our heart is to make every child feel loved, valued, and safe. As a Child Development Center, we focus each day on four important areas: Spiritual: We teach children about God’s Word and help them learn that God loves them and has a special purpose for their lives. Physical: Knowing the needs of many families in Vasca, we provide a healthy and balanced breakfast for each child every day. Emotional: We guide children in learning how to understand and express their feelings, while teaching them to love and respect others as God calls us to do. Academic: We create a caring learning environment where children learn what they need at their age, following the Dominican curriculum.

      • The site will use baseball as a way to create and build relationships with 8-12-year-old boys from Monte Largo and Vasca, to disciple and help mold godly men. While a focus will be to train boys to grow as baseball players with the possibility of reaching higher levels, another aim is to help teach life skills with the idea of the boys having options to continue education, grow healthy work habits, and teaching English as a tool to give more job opportunities. The goal for this site is that the boys that come through the site will become godly men that lead in their homes, friendships, and community. The end goal is that when a boy finishes in the site, he’ll have received the opportunity to be discipled, learn baseball, take advantage of work/study opportunities after baseball, and reinvest in their communities beginning in their homes.
