Alberto Herrera
Alberto and Yocasta first met in 1996 at the Discipleship Training School (DTS) with YWAM in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic. In 2000, they got married and settled in Jarabacoa, where they planted the Ministerio de Gracia Dios es Amor churches in the communities of Piedra Blanca and Mata Gorda. Around that same time, they also began serving with Students International.
In 2002, God opened the door for them to go on short-term trips to North Africa to serve among the Sahrawi people. What began as short visits turned into five years of ministry there. Since 2007, they have made the Dominican Republic their permanent home.
From 2018 on, Alberto has been overseeing the facilities and resources that SI manages in Santiago, while Yocasta has faithfully served as the Education Site Leader.
Their hearts have always been to follow God’s call: to make disciples to the ends of the earth and to freely give what they have freely received by His grace. They are deeply grateful for the years of ministry in Santiago, and now God has placed a new calling on their lives—serving the Haitian communities in the bateyes, in partnership with SI.
Alberto and Yocasta are excited for this new chapter and for the privilege of making disciples of Jesus Christ, sharing His love, and continuing to grow in faith alongside the people they serve.
Alberto Herrera serves in Dominican Republic (Bateyes) at our Appropriate Technology site.
