As the pandemic continues and countries begin to open back up, our work in each base is looking different every week. However, we are blessed to continue finding ways to serve God in the communities to bring light and hope. Today, we are hearing from Cailah Pritchard, one of the site leaders at La Casa Verde in Costa Rica.
This season has been a unique one. Our work at the Boys and Girls Club (affectionately known as “La Casa Verde”) has been no exception. This year has felt like a whirlwind and a standstill at the same time.
It has been especially challenging for us, as the Casa Verde has always had a “the door’s always open,” “drop-in whenever” kind of culture. It’s been a little bit of a rough adjustment, changing our policies and norms with the kids, putting the appropriate protocols in order, limiting our numbers, and switching to a reservation-based attendance system.
However, among all these changes and bouts of in-person activities not being possible, and all the doubts and questions about what to do next, God has proven faithful! We’ve also continued to have fantastic support and understanding from those in the community where we serve. We’ve even reached some families that we didn’t formerly have much contact with and grown in relationships with those that we had known before. It’s been a season to level up on our trust factor and allow ourselves and others to see how God is indeed faithful.
