This month, as our Global Bridge students have continued serving in their ministry sites, diving into the Dominican culture and language, and have attended a two-day Christian Ministry conference, we’re excited to introduce two more of our students and share a glimpse of what God has been doing in their lives through the program! Here are their answers to two questions we love to ask: “What has God been teaching you?” and “What has been your favorite part of the program?”

“What has God been teaching you during your time here?”

One of the most prevalent lessons that God has been teaching me since I arrived in the DR is that your “yes” always means more than you think it does. Time and time again I’ve been reminded of the boy in John chapter 9 who offers up his five loaves of bread and two fish to the rabbi and his disciples who had been teaching to a crowd of five thousand. I can’t help but wonder: did that boy ever even dream that his offering would go on to feed five thousand people when offered to the hands of Jesus?
My yes in coming to the DR, in picking up my Bible every morning, in praying for a woman i
n the clinic, it can all be used by God in ways that I could never have imagined. Who am I to say that Jesus cannot do with my simple yes what he wants? My job is to offer up all that I have to my Lord, and to watch as he amazes me every time.

“What has been your favorite part of the Global Bridge program?”
My favorite part of Global Bridge is the community here. Everyone from the staff to the other students and the church body has been so incredibly uplifting and encouraging to each other and it has been such a privilege to be able to serve alongside each person here, sharing our common love for Christ with the people here. Seeing how those around me have fully surrendered their lives to serving Christ has pushed me to constantly keep my eyes on the Lord. I am so unexplainably grateful for this program and the community of Christ followers that I have been surrounded by because of it.
