As those of us here in Santiago look back on this summer, we are filled with gratitude for all that God has done through the many people who came alongside us to serve here in the Dominican Republic.
Over the course of nine weeks, we welcomed 15 short-term teams, totaling more than 130 people. Each person gave up time, energy, and the comforts of home to come and serve alongside our ministry. While each team was different, they all shared a common desire: to love people, serve the community and our staff, and share the hope of Christ.
It was a full and exciting summer, and we want to share just a few of the highlights with you!
During the last week of summer our preschool held their graduation ceremony, where they celebrated the end of an amazing year with their students. Those that served in the preschool this summer had the opportunity to invest into each of these little one’s lives and help them grow academically and spiritually. Our preschool site also did a lot of home visits, bringing worship and the Word into many different homes throughout the community.
Our clinics set up mobile clinics on the side of the road in order to reach different areas of Cienfuegos as well as spent time investing in the children of the Quinigua by running a kids’ program and teaching them about the armor of God.

Our Appropriate Technology site reached a huge milestone by building and installing the 400th water filter in the history of the site. Each filter represents more than clean water. It is an opportunity to enter homes, build relationships, meet a practical need, and share the love of Christ with families in the community.
Lastly, after a summer of soccer camp run by one of our staff, seven boys from the Quinigua community have decided to give their life to Christ!
As we move into the next season, we look forward to seeing what God will continue to do here in the Dominican Republic. We are deeply thankful for the 130+ people who sacrificed a part of their summer to serve alongside us. We may serve in different places and in different ways, but together we arehelping share the love of Christ.
