Here is an encouraging story from the small community of El Calvario in Nicaragua.
Steven Gómez Pavón, is an 18 year old kid that has a deep love for the game of soccer. Four years ago Steven came to the sports site. Here he started training more in seriously and heard the word of God for the first time. After attending the sports site for six months, Steven put his faith in the Lord and was baptized!
Steven has said many times that he is so thankful for the site because not only has his physical ability improved, his faith has been strengthened by the Biblical teachings he hears. God has worked tremendously in this young man’s life. Steven has sought out discipleship with site leaders and has recently taken on a leadership role himself. He is now assisting in teaching other kids soccer and takes time to pray with them and lead them in bible teachings.
After witnessing such a growth in this young man, the sports site leaders recommended Steven to the Physical Education Teacher position that had opened at a Christian school called Maná de la Hermandad.
Steven got the job!
We thank God for the work that is being done in and through Steven’s life. Join us in prayer that God would continue to work in his heart and that He would work through Steven at the new school and that more kids would come to know Jesus.
Grateful for you,
The SI Team
