Mike Unternahrer

Mike and Karen Unternahrer, natives of Shipshewana, Indiana, joined Students International staff in April 2012. Mike supervised the Student Life Coordinators and was in charge of Hospitality & Maintenance at the Jarabacoa Base. He was also vitally instrumental in founding the new SI base in Santiago. Karen served as Director for Centro Especial Genesis. Her thirty students experienced varying degrees of cognitive delay and physical challenge. Interacting with staff, students, and their families gave Karen many opportunities to share the love of Jesus and advocate for those who can’t speak for themselves (Proverbs 31:8). Mike and Karen moved back to Middlebury, Indiana in May of 2016. Currently, Mike continues fundraising for SI National staff and building projects, as well as leading work teams to the field.
