Our ministry sites look different than they ever have before, but we are confident that God is moving. Today we wanted to share how our team in Guatemala is using technology to remain connected with one another and with the community members in their ministry sites despite not being able to meet in person. Noah, our Field Director in Guatemala sent the photo below from one of their recent staff meetings– it brought us so much joy seeing all their faces on once screen!
In Guatemala, the government is doing what it can to slow the spread of COVID-19. They’ve shut down all work outside of the medical field and grocery stores, giving our ministry site leaders an opportunity to be creative with connecting. Our team has shifted to connecting with community members through Facebook and WhatsApp.
We’ve been particularly encouraged by how Steven and Raquel, our Sponsorship Site leaders, have made it possible to connect with their students over Zoom. Their weekly clubs and meetings have shifted to group video chats and phone calls instead of the traditional in-person meetings. Last week, Raquel received a text from a student asking for help in how to accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Not only did Raquel get to help lead her to Christ, but her entire family wanted to pray and accept Jesus as well! How incredible is that?!
God is moving amid uncertainty; our incredible staff keeps ministering in new and creative ways! Thank you for continuing to pray for our ministry and the work that our team is doing in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.
