Guatemala Mission Trip

Students International offers Guatemala mission trips for students and adults who want to serve, grow in their faith and experience cross-cultural ministry alongside full-time missionaries. Rather than stepping into a community for a one-time service project, participants join established ministries led by missionaries who live and serve in Guatemala year-round.

During your Guatemala mission trip, you can serve in ministry areas including education, microfinance, physical therapy, social work, sports, special education and more. Each opportunity allows participants to build relationships, experience Guatemalan culture and contribute to ongoing work designed around the needs of the local community.

What to Expect on a Guatemala Mission Trip

Students International has served in Guatemala since 1994, making it the place where our ministry first began. Based in the mountainous community of Magdalena, participants have the opportunity to experience daily life in Guatemala while serving alongside missionaries who are deeply connected to the surrounding communities.

One of the most memorable parts of the experience is the opportunity to stay with other participants in the home of a local Guatemalan host, providing a deeper connection to the culture and community. Participants may also have opportunities to explore Guatemala through experiences such as visiting a coffee plantation, rainforest zip-lining and spending time in the historic city of Antigua.

How You Can Serve in Guatemala

Participants on a Guatemala mission trip serve alongside Students International missionaries at established ministry sites throughout the community. Opportunities allow students and adults to explore their interests and skills while supporting long-term ministries focused on education, healthcare, economic development, social work, sports and spiritual growth.

Why Choose a Mission Trip to Guatemala?

Students International has served in Guatemala since 1994, giving participants the opportunity to serve alongside established, full-time missionaries who live and work within the communities they support. With ministry opportunities ranging from education and healthcare to social work, sports and economic development, students can choose experiences that align with their individual interests, skills and goals.

A mission trip to Guatemala is also an opportunity to experience the country and its culture in a meaningful, personal way. Staying in local host homes allows participants to become immersed in daily life, build relationships within the community and gain a deeper understanding of Guatemalan culture. Combined with meaningful service, opportunities to explore the country and time for faith and personal growth, the experience is designed to leave participants with a broader perspective that continues long after they return home.
