As the pandemic continues, stay-at-home orders for several countries remain, and others begin to open back up, our work in each base is looking different every week. However, we are blessed to continue finding ways to serve God in the communities to bring light and hope. Today’s story comes from our Women’s Social Work Site in Guatemala!
During this time of staying home due to the pandemic situation, our Women’s Social Work Site has had the opportunity of ministering women through phone Bible Studies. God has been good, and we have witnessed how faith has grown in women’s hearts and have enjoyed answers to their prayers.
Glenda is married and has a five-year-old son. During these months of distance Bible Studies, Glenda has motivated her husband to participate as well. Glenda’s husband was taken to a warlock when he was seven months old. He is 25 years old, and he has not been able to sleep well since then, as he still has hallucinations and has been seeking refuge through alcohol. In Bible Studies, we suggested Glenda that her husband try reading some Psalms at night. One night, after he repeatedly read a Psalm, he threw up. When Glenda told us, we encouraged her to keep trusting and believing that God would set him free from his agony. God is good, and she has realized that seeking Him is the best answer. We continued to pray together, and it was then that she mentioned her husband wanted to join us in Bible Studies! Praise God! We pray for these hearts and that they’ll accept Jesus as their savior.
God has been amazing, and we have been blessed to have Luz (one of our kitchen staff) support this site in El Gorrión. It has been a joy every time she tells us the women that she teaches the Bible to want more and more, especially two women: Reyna and Claudia. They are sisters and have a great desire to learn more about God.
We pray for Luz, that God will keep speaking through her and reaching hearts. We pray for those that have received Christ and for the ones that have yet to do so. There is a lot of work left to do, but we pray for the transformation happening in women’s lives, lives that represent a story, a family, and a home in which God will be first.
