Today’s story comes from our Education Site in Los Higos, Jarabacoa, DR!

Over seven years ago, Hector Rosario stood in his community of Los Higos and looked out over an empty field filled with trash. As he stood there, God gave him a dream. Hector no longer saw empty beer bottles, plastic wrappers, and manure but a new preschool, a playground, and a lawn to play on. It would be a place that would reach more students than the tiny two-room preschool in which he was currently working. It would be a place with space for kids to run, jump, and play games. It would be a place with more than one bathroom stall for the 30 plus students. It would be a safe place for kids to learn, to play, and to begin to understand the incredible value that their Creator God gave them.

“Dreams don’t work unless you take action. The surest way to make your dreams come true is to live them.” – Roy T. Bennett

We are proud to announce that we no longer have to dream about what that would look like. Despite a year of setbacks due to COVID-19, Hector’s vision has officially become a dream we get to live out each day. It is a reality that will impact students’ lives for decades to come. We want to say THANK YOU to all of you who gave generously to make this dream come true. None of this would have been possible without you.

Los Higos Building

Girl Los HigosThis week the DR’s Department of Education permitted schools to have students back in the buildings at a limited capacity. This means that after months of video calls and home visits, we are thrilled to be back at school and to have the first students officially enter our new building!

Los HigosPlease pray for wisdom for Hector and his team as they continue to build the educational foundation for the students of Los Higos. Pray that God would use our new spacious building to teach each preschooler that God can do far more than we could ever dream and imagine.
