Marina is from the small town of Coalinga, California. She grew up loving to work with kids and at the age of 14 decided she wanted to be a teacher. While she attended Fresno Pacific University, Marina heard about the study abroad program with S.I. Costa Rica and decided to spend a semester abroad. It was a life changing experience as Marina learned about Costa Rican culture, ministry, and serving others like Jesus. During her first year of teaching, she felt the Lord calling her into ministry. Not knowing exactly what or where that would be, she took a leap of faith and decided to look for ministry opportunities. Remembering the love she had for Costa Rica and the tutoring center, she decided to return as an intern. Little did she know God was stirring up a passion and desire to invest long term into the communities and people in Costa Rica whom she loved so much. After a lot of prayer and guidance from mentors, Marina made the choice to follow where she felt God leading her-Costa Rica.
Marina loves encouraging and helping kids reach their God-given abilities, both in their education and their relationship with Jesus. She is most excited about the relationships she’s building in the community and looks forward to seeing growth in the lives of the kids and their families through the work Christ is doing through SI Costa Rica.
