Description: The Community Health Site consists of a Dominican doctor and American nurse that serves the health needs of 7 rural communities around Jarabacoa. They tend to patients that often fall through the cracks of the healthcare system by holding clinics once or twice a month in each one of those communities. Afternoons are filled with patient home visits or educational talks at local public schools.

Skills/Background Needed: Must be interested in the health-care field and able to handle injuries/illnesses. Must be self-confident, flexible, empathetic and attentive to detail.

Description: Community Health Interns will work in one of the two medical clinics that SI operates in Santiago. The clinics offer a holistic approach to primary care in the community of Quinigua and Cienfuegos and are run by two local Doctors and an American RN. Our missionaries also facilitate small groups for hypertension and diabetic patients and also run nutrition and a pregnancy clubs. During the consults, small groups and clubs, we take extra time to get to know them and spend time ministering to their spiritual needs.

Skills/Background Needed: Compassionate and caring individuals who have the heart to see individuals discover their value and identity in Christ. Background in health or a related field such as nutrition, nursing, and health promotion preferred. Knowledge of Spanish is a plus.

During the consults and small groups we take extra time to get to know them and spend time ministering to their spiritual needs.

Skills/Background Needed: Education started or background in the medical field, nutrition or community health. An introductory level of Spanish is required.
