Description: ESL Interns will gain relevant experience in teaching ESL. They will complement existing ministry sites by providing the opportunity for site participants to learn English. They will have full classroom responsibilities including creating lesson plans and actual teaching of conversational English and the structure of the English language. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the lives and community of Costa Ricans young and old. ESL Interns will work with students ranging in pre-literate to advanced levels of English.

Skills/Background Needed: Enthusiastic, passionate people who love Jesus and can commit themselves to teaching English in Costa Rica. Must have training and/or experience in teaching English as a second language. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Description: Tutoring Center Interns will work with 1st through 6th grade students on homework and preparing for exams. In addition to homework help, Interns will help lead art time, baking, games, and a discipleship group for 4th-6th grade boys and girls. Interns will help children to develop their learning abilities and grow in their knowledge of God. They will demonstrate Christ’s love by their patience and attentiveness.

Skills/Background Needed: Passionate people who love spending time with children, a teacher’s heart, and a desire to share Christ through words and actions. Education background or experience preferred.

The Tutoring Center works with small groups of 6-12-year-olds to improve their reading and writing skills and to help them with homework from school. In addition to homework help, the center provides educational games and outdoor activities. Interns will help children to develop their learning abilities and grow in their knowledge of God. They will demonstrate Christ’s love by their patience and attentiveness.

Skills: Passionate with a love for kids, a teacher’s heart and patience, and a desire to share Christ through words and actions. Good instructional skills/education experience is helpful but not required.

Description: The ECDC site caters to 3 and 4-year-olds, as they prepare to start public school. The site is located in the area of Los Solares - Qunigua.

Description: The education sites serves the children of the community as a tutoring serve. We work with students from 3 different communities, but they all come to the tutoring center. We have a set group of students per session and we help with primarily with math and language arts. We are also giving them a taste of some basic English classes and we incorporate bible teaching as well. Time is spent visiting the public schools where they attend as well as home visits.

Skills/Background Needed: Skill/Background Needed: A love for primary education and patience working with young children. An introductory level of Spanish. The site will also do a lot of walking when they are out visiting the communities and the public schools.

Description: Serve in the area of teaching English as a foreign language. A desire for elementary and middle school students. You will work alongside our full time staff member and he will delegate activities to you in order to teach and assist in the overall education for the local students. You will also help incorporate outreach participants into the site.
