Microfinance | Dominican Republic (Jarabacoa)

Internship Start Dates: January or August (Program length ranges from 4-9 months)

Description: Microfinance site works with small groups to help them access low interest loans to stimulate their small business. There are a few participants that are still trying to discover what small businesses to start, while others are well on their way. They spend time teaching classes, doing bible studies and visiting the ladies in their small businesses. Our site leader helps them develop a business plan and carry out the steps to stimulate their small business.

Skills/Background Needed: “Relational. Strong administrative skills including numbers and finances. An introductory level of Spanish.

Supervision: The Microfinance intern will be supervised by their site leaders (Heidy Guzman and Nathalie Urena) while at their ministry site and will report directly to the Student Life Coordinators for SI Jarabacoa for anything not related to ministry site activities.

Microfinance | Guatemala

Internship Start Dates: January, May or August (Program length ranges from 4-12 months)

Description: Microfinance works mainly with woman, using microloans to help them build their business and advance their family. Most of the time is spent out in the communities with the families and their business, giving them advice, collecting payments, and building relationships.

Skills/Background Needed: No requirements.

Microfinance/Business Administration | Nicaragua

Internship Start Dates: January or August (Program length ranges from 4-12 months)

Description: Microfinance site works with small groups to help them access low interest loans to stimulate their small business. There are a few participants that are still trying to discover what small business to start, while others are well on their way. They spend time teaching classes, doing bible studies and visiting the ladies in their small businesses. Our site leader helps them develop a business plan and carry out the steps to stimulate their small business.

Skills/Background Needed: A desire for numbers and financial organization. Studies or a background in financial administration would be preferred but not required. An introductory level of Spanish.
