Today’s encouraging story comes from the Women’s Social Work Site in Nicaragua. A story about a woman who overcame many challenges in her life to be where she is today… Ingrid.
Ingrid attended our cosmetology program last year, and is now running her own salon from her home. Ingrid learned about the cosmetology program through a friend of hers that had been through the program herself and loved it. Ingrid is married and has a teenage daughter. Before attending classes at the site, she did not have a relationship with God, she says her life was broken and her marriage was broken. She was on the brink of divorce and she felt like her life was crumbling around her. Ingrid did not know anything about cosmetology but there was a small spark of interest. She started attending classes a year ago and started hearing devotionals on a weekly basis. As time went on, she grew a desire to know more about God and what He wanted for her life. She started seeking out other resources to study the bible because she had a desire to read on her own.
Ingrid’s husband struggles with alcohol abuse and that has been very difficult for her and her daughter. BUT she has a new hope in Jesus and she has a group that she has felt encouraged and supported by. She pushed through cosmetology school and walked over a mile to get to class everyday and was always the first to arrive. Ingrid has continued to pursue Jesus and His unconditional love for her. Through her understanding of the gospel and Christ’s love, she decided to give her husband a second chance and show Christ’s love to him.
Not only does Ingrid attend the program on a weekly basis and hears the gospel, she is attending a weekly church service and brings her family with her. She prays daily that God would rescue her husband from his addiction. God is working within her life and the life of her family and has brought healing and restoration.
Would you join us in prayer that Ingrid’s husband and daughter would come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior and the He would rescue her husband from his alcohol addiction.
Grateful for you,
The SI Team
