Global Bridge

Two Weeks in the Dominican Republic

Our Global Bridge students arrived in Santiago on August 20 and have officially been in the Dominican Republic for two weeks! While their time here is just beginning, these first few weeks have already been filled with new experiences, opportunities to serve, and plenty of ways to step outside of their comfort zones.

The students have been settling into their ministry sites, where they are beginning to serve alongside our long-term staff and experience what cross-cultural ministry looks like firsthand. They have also started their online college classes, balancing their studies with ministry and life in a new culture.

Of course, there has been plenty of time for fun and connection, too! The group recently enjoyed a trip to the beach and participated in a culture night, giving them opportunities to learn more about Dominican culture while getting to know one another better.

All five of our Global Bridge students come from different states and backgrounds, each bringing their own unique story, gifts, and experiences to this season. We are excited to see how God uses these next several months to grow their faith, broaden their perspective, and shape their understanding of His calling on their lives. As they become immersed in Dominican culture and serve alongside local communities, we look forward to witnessing the ways the Lord transforms their hearts and minds.

Would you join us in praying for our Global Bridge students?

Pray for strength and guidance as they continue adjusting to life in a new country. Pray that they would remain open to what God wants to teach them and that they would learn to delight in Him through every circumstance—both the exciting moments and the challenging ones.

Please also pray as they prepare for their upcoming homestays and Spanish classes. Pray that these experiences would deepen their understanding of Dominican culture, strengthen their relationships with the people around them, and help them grow in confidence as they communicate in a new language.

Most of all, pray that God would use every part of their Global Bridge experience to shape them into the people He designed them to be. May this season be about more than simply experiencing a new country—it is an opportunity to follow Jesus more closely, discover how He has uniquely gifted them, and learn what it means to surrender their plans to His purpose.

“Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.’”
