Global Adventure FAQ’s
With its tropical mountains and white sand beaches, the Dominican Republic is a beautiful country that shares the island Hispaniola with Haiti. Our students live near Santiago in a community of both Dominicans and Haitians. The SI staff, made up of Dominicans, Haitians and Americans, will guide you in navigating the various and exciting aspects of engaging in the cultures of the area.
On the Global Bridge program, students deeply engage in Dominican culture by:
- Ministering daily in Dominican communities
- Visiting Dominican and Haitian families in their homes
- Weekly attending an intercultural Dominican and Haitian church
- Living for several weeks with Dominican host families
- Taking coursework on Dominican culture
- Completing cultural exploration projects
- Taking field trips to sites of historical and cultural significance
The Global Bridge Directors plan regular excursions that include:
- Visits to the beach
- Snorkeling
- Camping
- Hiking
- White Water Rafting
- And much more
