OUR STORY
Students International has been walking alongside vulnerable families throughout Latin America for 30 years. Through our work at Centro Especial Genesis, we know firsthand the enormous challenges that children with disabilities encounter each day. We provide each family support and the hope of the Gospel assuring them their child will get a chance to reach their full potential!
WHY?
In the Dominican Republic, children with disabilities are neglected. There aren’t adequate resources and parents are often forced to leave their children abandoned in the back bedroom. That’s why Students International provides vulnerable families with a safe place their children can go for help. Centro Especial Genesis has provided care for disabled children for 20 years.
There is only one problem. Our rental building is inadequate. It makes an already challenging mission twice as difficult as it needs to be.
This past year, Genesis gave 28 students care and hope for a better future. But with more than 50 children on our waiting list and lack of an adequate building designed for their specific needs, children with disabilities will continue to suffer.
WHAT & HOW
BUY LAND
Thanks to amazing donors we have already raised the funds to secure a beautiful 1.5 acre lot of land.
RAISE $500,000
$250,000 in donations and pledges by Aug 31st takes us from buying land to breaking ground, paving the way for our final push to the finish line.
BUILD A SCHOOL
If we hit our milestones, we will start building in the Fall of 2025 and hope to finish the following year.
