Introducing Work of HeArt Studio/ Creative Arts Ministry in Costa Rica!

“Let all that you do be done in love.” – 1 Corinthians 16:14

God continues to open new doors for ministry in Costa Rica, and we are excited to introduce Work of HeArt Studio / Estudio Obras de CorArte—a new ministry site where creativity becomes a pathway to discipleship, healing, and hope.

Work of HeArt Studio is much more than an art studio. It is a Christ-centered community where children, youth, and adults of all ages and abilities are invited to discover their God-given creativity while learning what it means to seek Christ, follow Him, and be transformed into His likeness.

Whether someone has years of artistic experience or has never picked up a paintbrush, everyone is welcome. Here, there is no pressure to be perfect. Instead, participants are encouraged to learn, experiment, make mistakes, grow, and joyfully express themselves through drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and other creative arts.

Each class is intentionally designed to nurture both the heart and the mind. Students participate in Bible study, pray together, share life’s joys and struggles, and build meaningful relationships while creating art. Classes are currently offered for children in grades 1–3, grades 4–6, and adults, creating opportunities for entire families to experience community and spiritual growth.

For many of our youngest artists, the studio has become a place unlike any other. They delight in having the freedom to imagine, create, and explore without the pressure of perfectionism or simply copying a sample. They are discovering that they are wonderfully made by a creative God who delights in them.

Our adult classes have also become a place of deep connection. New friendships are forming as participants encourage one another, share how God is working in their families, pray together, and support one another through life’s challenges.

One of those participants is Maricela.

For the past several months, Maricela has walked through one of the most difficult seasons of her life. Her son was diagnosed with an incurable lung infection that has left him home-bound and facing an uncertain future. Each day brings emotional and financial challenges as their family adjusts to a reality they never expected.

Maricela has wrestled honestly with God. She has questioned Him, pleaded with Him, and poured out her heart before Him. Through that journey, God has gently brought her to a place of peace. While she knows her son’s future is uncertain, she has found comfort in the conviction that he rests securely in God’s hands. She trusts that God’s plans are greater than her fears and that He will faithfully care for her family every step of the way.

One of the brightest moments of Maricela’s week is attending art class.

She often shares that the studio is a place where she feels seen, heard, loved, and cared for. It is a refuge where she can set down the burdens she carries, experience genuine community, learn something new, laugh with friends, and be reminded that she is not walking alone. Knowing that her class family is praying for her, her son, and her family gives her strength to face another week.

Stories like Maricela’s remind us that this ministry is about far more than art.

It is about creating spaces where people encounter the love of Christ, find hope in difficult circumstances, build authentic relationships, and grow together as disciples of Jesus.

As God continues to expand this ministry, there are many opportunities to serve. Volunteers are invited to help with art classes, workshops, and open studio times while simply being the hands and feet of Jesus. No artistic expertise is required—only a willing heart to love people, encourage them, and walk alongside them.
