Guatemala
A beautiful land of mountains, volcanoes and lakes, Guatemala is known for its colorfully dressed people, Mayan ruins, and coffee. Suffering from the aftermath of a civil war that lasted more than three decades, Guatemala now must address the needs of the poor while at the same time preserving its natural resources (especially the tropical forests that cover its northern half). Students International's ministry in Guatemala is located in the rural mountainous city of Magdalena, approximately 20 minutes outside of the famous city of Antigua. Students International began ministry in Magdalena in 1994 and they continue to share the Gospel and meet physical needs in the community through various occupational ministry sites.
