Recently, our Global Bridge students have been busy with home stays, Spanish classes, and serving in ministry sites. Our students spend a few weeks out of each semester living with a local family, gaining further exposure to Dominican culture while taking Spanish classes during the day at the base. The first round of home stays lasted for two weeks in September, and the second round for a week in October. These were experiences of growth for the students through intentional time with Dominican families and exposure to more Spanish, equipping them to communicate better within their ministry sites and in the community.
What our students have to say about home stays:
“What I’ve loved so much about home stays is how everyone welcomes us with open arms and we become a part of their family. It’s been an honor to get to know such amazing people and be able to learn from them and laugh with them. It’s been one of my favorite parts of being a GB student by far.” -Isabella Voorhees
“My favorite part was just relaxing and helping out with my host family, whether that was going to the cinema or watching a movie at their house!” -Cora Fletcher
“My favorite part about home stays was being able to build deeper relationships with those around me. I felt as though I was a part of a family while being fully immersed in Dominican culture.” -Hannah Cummings
“I enjoyed spending time with loving families that love to have fun.” -Jaxson Doolin
Please continue to pray for our students as they settle back into their routines for the rest of this semester. Pray that they would have strength and resilience to continue serving and growing as they get further into the year. Most importantly, pray that their Global Bridge experience would be an opportunity for them to grow in their relationships with the Lord.
