The microfinance site, called "Mi Banquito" (my little bank) assists women in three communities with receiving small business loans, offers the opportunity to save money without a minimum deposit amount, and organizes financial classes to prepare the women for managing their businesses and their finances. However, Microfinance is so much more than savings and loans. Mi Banquito strives to not only teach women how to manage money, but how to live their whole lives in a way that is pleasing to God. Each meeting, the women participate in Bible studies and engage in classes that teach them how to make new types of crafts and products to sell. Often times, a weekly schedule will include going to the market to buy materials needed for crafts, visiting women in the communities, and brainstorming news ways to encourage families. Sometimes that even includes having parties to celebrate special events, such as baby showers, birthdays, and weddings! Students do not have to have an understanding of accounting in order to find their place in Mi Banquito, only a willing heart to serve.
